Il Faut Travailler

A UW student asked me to play a zombie for her film class final project. Three days of shooting around the Seattle suburbs, a Super 8 camera, and a mouth full of Hershey's chocolate syrup.

A University of Washington student and friend, Riley Kent, asked me to play a zombie for her final project in her film class. I said yes immediately. This is not a decision I regret.

Production ran over three days in and around the Seattle suburbs. The film was shot on a Super 8 Canon 518 camera, which gives it exactly the kind of grainy, tactile quality that a zombie short deserves. The soundtrack is "2:1" by Elastica.

It was my second time in front of a camera in any real capacity, and Riley was a great director to work with. The shoot was relaxed, creative, and genuinely fun from start to finish.

One note on production: that is Hershey's chocolate syrup coming out of my mouth. I felt it added a nice visual touch. The Super 8 format handles it beautifully.
