Wicked Weddings LA

Horror-themed wedding ceremonies officiated by Michael Myers in the shadow of the house from John Carpenter's 1978 Halloween, in South Pasadena, CA.

In 2017, through Partini, I launched Wicked Weddings LA — horror-themed wedding ceremonies performed in the gothic garden at SugarMynt Gallery in South Pasadena, officiated by none other than Michael Myers himself.

The hook was both conceptual and genuinely geographical: SugarMynt Gallery at 810 Meridian Avenue sits in the shadow of the actual house used in John Carpenter's Halloween (1978). Couples were literally eloping to Haddonfield.

The concept

Civil ceremonies for the not so faint of heart. Thirty minutes of terrifying bliss. Legal ceremonies performed by Sinister Ministers, with Michael Myers or the Wicked Widow officiating — couples could choose their villain, or let fate decide.

Each package included the ceremony, wedding cupcakes, sparkling mini toasts, certificate signing, and a ceremony photograph. Vow renewals and commitment ceremonies were also available for couples who wanted the experience without the legal paperwork.

The setting was a fully dressed private gothic garden: black twisted branches, crimson floral arrangements, candlelight, purple uplighting, and Michael Myers standing between the urns where your photographer would be expecting a traditional officiant.

The venue and the trail

SugarMynt Gallery's private garden, which Partini branded as Haddonfield Place for the Wicked Weddings events, was transformed into a fully immersive Halloween set. The original Michael Myers house — as filmed by John Carpenter for the 1978 classic — stands nearby on the same street in South Pasadena. For horror fans, getting married there was not just a ceremony. It was a pilgrimage.

The gallery received national press attention from the Halloween fan community. SugarMynt's own Instagram posted the publicity shoot and it spread quickly through horror circles.

The ceremonies

Couples arrived at Haddonfield Place and were greeted by a Sinister Minister who reviewed their LA County marriage license. They walked down the aisle to their choice of music and exchanged vows — standard or their own — before being pronounced by Michael Myers or the Wicked Widow. The ceremony was followed by cake, a sparkling toast, and the certificate signing.

Two witnesses were required to sign the license alongside the ordained minister. A professional photographer captured the ceremony, with additional time available to book in advance.

One of the most memorable ceremonies was this couple, married on Halloween Day 31th of October, 2017. Their photos — shot around the Myers house itself, with Michael lurking behind them — are exactly what Wicked Weddings was built for. The timing was not an accident.
